Calling UK customers from the US? Work with a UK team that has done it since 2004.
UK calling runs on different rules from the US: Ofcom's abandoned-call and caller-ID rules, TPS screening, UK GDPR. Hostcomm Ltd has run contact-center technology in the UK since 2004, for customers including BT, HomeServe and Scottish Power, and Hostcomm LLC brings the same platform and engineers to US companies from Miami. One contract, one support team, US and UK.

Ofcom rules, set once and enforced on every dial
A UK campaign carries the UK rules with it: the abandoned-call ceiling, the information message, the 72-hour hold, a valid UK caller ID and UK calling hours. Agents don't have to remember them — the dialer applies them.
The same platform runs your US campaigns under US rules, from the same login.
Who uses it
US companies with UK customers
SaaS, ecommerce, fintech and home-services brands adding a UK support line or outbound team, without learning Ofcom and UK GDPR from scratch.
BPOs and outsourcers serving UK clients
US-managed centers, onshore or offshore, that need to dial UK numbers with a valid UK caller ID and Ofcom-safe pacing — agents only need a browser.
US groups with a UK subsidiary
One platform and one supplier for both operations, with each country's data hosted in its own region.
The UK rules a US setup doesn't cover
Each rule links to its source. This is a summary, not legal advice — confirm how the rules apply to your calls with UK counsel.
| Rule | What it requires | Source | How Hostcomm handles it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abandoned calls | No more than 3% of live calls abandoned, per campaign or per call center, over any 24-hour period — including an estimate of answering-machine-detection false positives. | Ofcom, persistent misuse policy (2008), §4.16.1 | Predictive pacing runs under a 3% ceiling per campaign per day and drops back to one call per agent when the campaign reaches it. |
| Information message | If a call is abandoned, a brief recorded information message must play no later than two seconds after pick-up. | Ofcom, persistent misuse policy (2008), §4.16.2 | Your recorded information message plays automatically when no agent is free; predictive dialing stays at one call per agent until a message is set. |
| 72-hour rule | After an abandoned call, repeat calls to that number in the next 72 hours need a guaranteed live agent. | Ofcom, persistent misuse policy (2008), §4.16.4 | The number is held back from automatic dialing for 72 hours after an abandoned call. |
| Caller ID (CLI) | Every outbound call must present a number that can be called back. Since May 2023 UK networks must block calls with invalid or non-dialable CLIs, including calls from abroad spoofing UK numbers. | Ofcom, policy §4.16.5; General Condition C6 (2022) | Calls present a valid UK caller ID from Hostcomm's UK numbers, routed over our UK carrier platform — not an overseas route that UK networks may block. |
| TPS and CTPS | Unsolicited live marketing calls must not go to numbers registered with the Telephone Preference Service (consumers) or Corporate TPS (businesses) unless they have consented. | PECR regulation 21 (ICO) | TPS and CTPS screening is applied by Hostcomm on your account, alongside your own do-not-call list on every dial. |
| Fines | Since 5 February 2026 the ICO can fine PECR breaches — including nuisance marketing calls — up to £17.5 million or 4% of global turnover, the same as UK GDPR. | Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 | Controls are enforced by the dialer rather than left to agent discipline, and every call is logged. |
| UK GDPR and data location | UK personal data can go to certified US organizations under the UK–US data bridge (since 12 October 2023); many UK buyers still require their data to stay in the UK. | UK–US data bridge (GOV.UK) | UK customers' data — calls, recordings, CRM records — is hosted in AWS London (eu-west-2). US data stays in US regions. |
Why US companies choose Hostcomm for the UK
An established UK company
Hostcomm Ltd has run hosted telephony and contact-center software in the UK since 2004, for customers including BT, HomeServe and Scottish Power. Our predictive dialer has run under Ofcom's abandoned-call rules since 2008.
UK telecoms, not a reseller
We operate our own call-routing platform with connections to multiple UK carriers and supply UK numbers, so UK calls present valid UK caller IDs and route the way UK networks expect.
PCI DSS Level 1
Independently audited for five consecutive years. Agents can take card payments mid-call without seeing the card number.
UK public-sector supplier
Listed on the UK government's G-Cloud 14 framework, an approved Crown Commercial Service supplier and registered with the ICO.
Support from both sides
Sales, support and account management from Miami in US hours; the engineers who build the platform in Devon, England, in UK hours. One contract and one support route for both.
One supplier for the whole operation
Dialer, inbound contact center, UK-hosted AI voice agents, remote visual assistance and cloud phone system — already integrated, on month-to-month terms with a free trial.

Questions US companies ask
Can a US company run a UK contact center through Hostcomm?
Yes. US companies contract with Hostcomm LLC in Miami; the UK numbers, carrier routing and UK data hosting are run by Hostcomm Ltd, the UK company that has operated the platform since 2004. Your agents can be in the US, the UK or elsewhere — they only need a browser and a headset. Whether your business needs its own UK entity or registrations is a question for your UK legal advisers.
Do US dialers comply with Ofcom rules?
Not automatically. US dialers are built around the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule, which measures abandoned calls at 3% over 30 days. Ofcom measures 3% of live calls per campaign or call center over any 24-hour period, requires an information message within two seconds, a 72-hour live-agent rule after an abandon, a 15-second minimum ring and a valid return-call CLI. Hostcomm's dialer has run under the Ofcom rules since 2008.
Where is UK customer data stored?
In AWS London (eu-west-2). UK customers' calls, recordings and records stay in the UK region; US customers' data stays in US regions.
Can an offshore call center dial UK numbers through Hostcomm?
Yes. Agents work in a browser from anywhere, and calls go out over Hostcomm's UK carrier platform with a valid UK caller ID. Ofcom's rules apply to calls to UK numbers wherever the agent is sitting, so the same abandoned-call, information-message and 72-hour controls apply.
What is TPS screening and do I need it?
The Telephone Preference Service (consumers) and Corporate TPS (businesses) are UK opt-out registers. Under PECR you must not make unsolicited live marketing calls to registered numbers without consent. Hostcomm applies TPS and CTPS screening on your account.
Is Hostcomm PCI DSS compliant?
Yes — PCI DSS Level 1, independently audited for five consecutive years. Agents can take card payments mid-call without seeing the card number.
Who provides support, and in which time zones?
Sales, support and account management run from Miami in US hours. The engineers who build and run the platform are in Devon, England, in UK hours. You have one contract and one support route for both.
How much does it cost?
Contracts are month-to-month with a free trial, and quotes depend on seats, channels and call volumes. Tell us what you need and we will reply within one business day.
